SCLR near completion as BKC-Vakola arm readies; girders launched on Vakola Nallah bridge
Mumbai's SCLR second phase nears completion as the MMRDA launches two 54-metre girders over the Vakola Nallah bridge, completing the last major structural link. The Bandra Kurla Complex–Vakola arm, developed since 2016, is expected to be ready for motorists within about three months. Once fully opened, the SCLR corridor—spanning 10.88 km with multiple arms and interchanges—will provide continuous signal-free east–west connectivity between the Eastern and Western Express Highways and improve CBD traffic.
Why It Matters
This milestone completes a major connector in Mumbai's elevated transport network and is expected to ease congestion in the central business district.
