PM Modi attacks TMC's 'Jungle Raj' in West Bengal, campaigns for BJP ahead of 2026 elections

Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh criticized the PM's speech as 'frustrating to Matua people' for failing to provide positive messages for the community amid tensions over the Supplementary Inclusion Report (SIR) draft rolls, and for not addressing release of funds allotted for various schemes in Bengal.

Modi pointed to the NDA's recent success in Bihar elections, stating: 'The Ganga flows from Bihar to Bengal, and Bihar has shown the path to victory in Bengal and a way out of jungle Raj.' He suggested this electoral momentum could extend to West Bengal.

Apologizing to supporters for not attending in person, Modi launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress, accusing it of shielding illegal immigrants, opposing voter roll revisions, corruption, nepotism, and appeasement politics. He branded the state's situation as 'maha jungle raj' and urged voters to support a 'double-engine government' (BJP-led state and NDA-led center) in the upcoming assembly elections.

PM Modi reached Kolkata around 10:40 AM. Dense fog caused by low visibility prevented his helicopter from landing at the Taherpur helipad in Nadia district, forcing him to address the rally virtually instead of in person.

Prime Minister Modi was scheduled to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for two National Highway projects worth around Rs 3,200 crores and inaugurate 66.7 km of 4-laning of Barajaguli-Krishnanagar Section of NH-34 in Nadia district, followed by a political rally.
