Around 2:30 pm, armed assailants opened fire on a convoy travelling from Imphal to Ukhrul on NH-202 between Leingangching and TM Kasom. Two people were killed and three injured. The deceased were Chinaoshang Shokwungnao (45), a retired Naga Regiment soldier from Tashar village, and Yaruingam Vashum (42) of Kharasom CC village. One driver died on the spot and another critically injured victim later succumbed to injuries.
