Delhi Police constable held for key role in ₹50.37 lakh Azad Market robbery; linked to four cases

The constable, a 2009 batch officer posted in the 5th Battalion, was arrested; he allegedly arranged the meeting between robbers and himself and handed over ₹10.37 lakh to the constable near Lotus Temple, in the presence of another accused; he distributed part of the cash among the accused and retained a portion.

Another accused was arrested; ₹50,000 recovered along with a mobile phone bought with the stolen cash.

Based on a tip-off, another accused was arrested; ₹6 lakh recovered.

Another accused was arrested using a facial recognition system; ₹2.5 lakh and a mobile phone purchased with looted money were recovered.

Two other accused were arrested; police recovered ₹12 lakh from them.

CCTV footage helped trace the motorcycle used in the crime, leading to the arrest of a Karawal Nagar resident who revealed involvement of four other associates; ₹8 lakh recovered.

Two men intercepted an autorickshaw carrying ₹50.37 lakh from Kirti Nagar to Chandni Chowk near the railway underpass at Azad Market Chowk; victims were assaulted and cash bags stolen.

The accused was released on bail in May 2025 following his December 2024 arrest.

In December 2024, another FIR was registered against him at Sarai Rohilla police station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act for an armed robbery incident.

In January 2024, he was booked on charges of dacoity and theft with common intention at Paschim Vihar West police station.

The constable was booked in a February 2022 case registered at Chandni Mahal police station on charges of kidnapping for ransom with common intention.
