The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, directed District Collectors to immediately implement an action plan to address the shortage and submit a report to him by the evening. He held a teleconference with Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad and senior officials to assess the situation. Civil supplies minister Nadendla Manohar stated there is no shortage of petrol and diesel in the state, while acknowledging some pumps were closed due to supply problems and warning of action against black-marketing.
April 26, 2026: Fuel supply and pump closure data presented to officials
Officials informed that out of 4,510 fuel outlets in the state, nearly 421 petrol pumps had been shut. About 10,345 kilolitres of petrol and 14,156 kilolitres of diesel were supplied to dealers on Saturday, but panic buying caused heavy rush at many outlets. Usual daily sales are around 6,330 kl petrol and 9,048 kl diesel, while Saturday sales rose to 8,489 kl petrol and 10,556 kl diesel. Bulk purchases in drums by the aqua sector were also said to be putting additional pressure on supplies.
